I think the police didn't need to taser the guy. He was already down and cuffed, as I understand.

This looks really bad.

Imagine the outcry if it had happened at an event where a Republican had been speaking...

1) The guy's questions were great!
Was he arrested & brutalized by police for asking 3 "hard ball" questions?

SHAME!!!

btw - What were Kerry's answers? Skull & Bones? Bush's cousin? Really?

C'mon John, THE WORLD WANTS TO KNOW Wink

2) Unfortunately his acting (behaviour) was a little over the top.

Pretty manic. Crying or Very sad
Still, one wonders how they themselves might have reacted under similar circumstances.
Anyone?

3) Did the cops murder him in his jail cell that night?

John Kerry, D-Mass., Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, in Gainesville, Fla. Meyer, 21, was Tasered and arrested after he angrily and repeatedly "tried to ask" Kerry about the 2004 election and other subjects during a campus forum.

I don't mind that they subdued him. I'm not against using tasers. I am bothered by how they tasered him AFTER he was already down. It sounded more like torture than anything.

I have a feeling that this one won't go away soon.

I'm no Kerry fan, for sure, but I'll bet you Kerry feels sorry for the kid.

He gave his camera to the person he barged in front of to ask questions. He was aggressive and was fighting with the cops so that he could get tasered and so that he would have it on tape. He was asked to leave not because he was asking tough questions, but because he had surpassed the time allotted to each student that wanted to speak. He was tasered for being belligerent and for fighting the cops.

AntiEstablishment people on meth or whatever it is that this howler-monkey, cry-baby far-lefist was taking, when they get hysterical and confrontational with the police, refuse to be escorted out of whereever it is that they may be causing their scene (and this guy was not asking questions but hurling a shrill diatribe, not even giving Kerry a chance to answer) deserve their fate.

Tasers are intended to be used as an alternative to lethal force (guns). If a gun isn't necessary, neither is a taser. The man's political agenda doesn't matter, stop making it an issue. NO ONE deserves to be tasered unless they are violently threatening the cops in a manner that calls for a gun.

Nice to see the two resident authoritarians are showing that any form of political dissent needs to be stamped out by whatever means. The retribution here did not fit the crime. Being able to ask these questions is called Democracy, is it not? Strange that politics has now become so dictatorial that freedom of speech is an illusion. Even for 'the land of the free'

To balance this up it's as ridiculous as the pensioner being thrown out of the Labour party conference because he asked:

Quote:

Hero's return for Labour heckler

Security staff tackle hecklers

Heckler ejected
An 82-year-old activist thrown out of the Labour party conference for heckling Jack Straw has returned to the venue to a hero's welcome.

Walter Wolfgang, from London, was cheered as he held up his security pass - confiscated by stewards on Wednesday.

He said a "small mistake" had been rectified - unlike the "big mistake we made in invading Iraq".

Tony Blair earlier apologised for the incident, which came after Mr Wolfgang shouted "nonsense" during the speech.

Apology

The prime minister told BBC Breakfast: "I am really sorry about it, it shouldn't have happened."

Labour said Mr Wolfgang could return for the conference's final day provided he did not cause further disturbances.

A Labour member of 57 years' standing, Mr Wolfgang told reporters that some people in the party had been "irresponsible in hiring heavies". The party needed to get back to a culture which was " open to argument", he added.

Speaking earlier, Mr Blair said of the stewards: "It is difficult for them when someone is interrupting someone's speech, but it should be handled sensitively, particularly with an older person."

He told the BBC there had to be better training for stewards in the future.

Asked if he would apologise face-to-face to Mr Wolfgang, the prime minister said he did not expect to meet him, adding: "I can't do anything more than apologise profusely."

After being ejected Mr Wolfgang's pass was seized and he was detained under the Terrorism Act when he tried to re-enter the conference on Wednesday.

'Authoritarianism

Questioned about why Mr Wolfgang had been briefly arrested under the Terrorism Act, Mr Blair said: "My understanding is that his delegate's credentials showed he had been ejected before and he had to wait while that was checked out."

Shadow home secretary David Davis said civil liberties and security should not be confused.

These two toughies came round and wanted to manhandle me out
Walter Wolfgang

Fellow Tory leadership campaigner David Cameron described the incident as "one of those moments which lays bare the full absurdity of the Orwellian New Labour project".

He said the use of the Terrorism Act in preventing Mr Wolfgang's return was "profoundly depressing".

Liberal Democrat president Simon Hughes told BBC Breakfast: "Here's a conference with the foreign secretary tackling some of the most controversial issues of the day and people aren't allowed to stay in their seats if they shout any protest, even restrained protest.

"It just seems to me that it's an attitude question about authority and authoritarianism."

There it is 'terrorism act'. This is where the freedom of speech and terrorism act are intertwined and civil liberties and democracy are lost.

Nice to see that vinegar and water still mix well.

Wrong.

Tasers are part of the continuum-of-force and most departments have escalation-of-force training programs and policies that spell it out, play-by-play.

Before we go there, would you call this suspect "compliant," "passive-resistant," "active-resistant," "combative," or "deadly threat?" If it was any but the first two, tasers might very probably have been permissible.

Now, in any case, should you want to talk about "intentions" or "propriety," in this particular case, I think you would need to get out of British Labour-Party politics and get into Florida law and law-enforcement administration. What are their policies...?

And, finally, what pray tell, do you think this howler-monkey's radical-leftist professors have told him that would lead him to conclude and decry...

"They're gonna try and kill me...Oh, my God. They are givin' me to the government"?

He brought it on himself by being a belligerent hyperactive juvenile.

if you want to ask tough questions..don't get emotional or insulting, and get to the point. if I was his proff. i'd give him zero for composition.
