I have been hired to begin work at a uni in March, but want to kill time between now and then working at a hagwan. Of course, a visa is required for both, but I'm wondering how easy it is to get a new visa if I hand in my resignation at the hagwon two months in advance, and give up my old ARC when I leave the country. I need some advice as most sites regarding Korean labor law are somewhat unclear or they don't directly address my questions. Some input would be greatly appreciated from those in the know. |

If you sign a 1 year contract with the hakwon they DO NOT have to release you to let you go to the university. It doesn't matter if you give notice.
IF you are here and are willing to pay for your own visa run you can probably find a hakwon to hire you on a C4 (90 day visa) for the winter vacation break (Dec-Feb).
It is one heck of a crap shoot at best. |

you say you've been hired - have you signed a contract? started visa processing yet?
you'd also run into issues when you go to process your visa for your uni if you are already on a visa for a hakwon - why don't you go to another country first - china, taiwan, thailand or japan - all places that are relatively easy to process a korean visa when it's time to come here -
china also is good for short time contracts
good luck |
