|
|
I went with my wife to the American Embassy on Friday for her to get a visa to the states.
It has been 3 years since we have been back to the states to see my family.
The interviewer asked us when we where planning on traveling to the states. We told him that we where planning on leaving Korea on Febuary 1st after my winter camps where finished. We also gave him our travel plans while we where in America.
Well we got my wifes passport back today and the experiation date on my wifes visa is January 8th. Almost a month before my winter camps finish.
If we can't get it changed she will be in America a month before me. |

How long are you planning on visiting the States?
She's a Korean citizen, right? Wouldn't her visa last for 3 months?
And...
Since you're married, wouldn't she be on an F-9 visa, allowing her to come and go as she pleases?
Please let me know. As an American who is seriously considering marrying a Korean, I understand your frustration/concern. |

Similar thing happened to my friend.
He was taking his wife to the States for a month long visit.
This was their 2nd time going.
She was granted a travel visa, but for some inexplicable reason they only gave her a 2 week visa.
There was no reason given for the screw up.
The embassy staff messed it up, so my friend and his wife had to go back to the embassy and get it fixed.
The embassy is not there to help US citizens. They couldn't care less about us. They are their to smooth the way for diplomats, trade agreements and international business ventures. |

Here's a question for you.
My wife has 5 years left on her 10 year tourist visa to the USA. Since we married, will that make it impossible for her to go back and visit the states with me next year? She's been there twice and returned on schedule before we married. |

You're confusing an Immigrant visa with a Non-Immigrant Visa. The holder of an Immigrant visa must enter the US prior to the expiry date of the visa. Once in the US, the holder then applies for a Green Card.
If one's status changes after receiving any type of US visa (such as from being single to being married to a US citizen, one is required to inform the BCIS of that change.
I suggest you contact either the Consular section at the US Embassy or US Immigration and Customs Enforcement for definitive answers to your questions. |

My ex-gf got a visa to go with me to the US to visit my family back in 2002, the visa was good for 10 years and the stays can be up to 90 days at one time.
How could you only get a few months on a B1/B2 visa? |

what's unfortunate about consular work is no one wants to do the job. few sign up for it as a career, so most folks doing visa work at the embassy are only doing it for a one or two year stint before moving onto their chosen career field. it sucks, but it's a thankless job and no one wants to do it. hence the low quality..............kinda like politics. |

Care to save this utter drivel for whatever forum that really appreciates bad fiction? |
