I noticed when I woke up early this morning that familiar unpleasant feeling in the back of my newly sore scratchy throat. Sinus drainage in the back of my throat with head pressure and aches. Argh! I hate this. Already in only October? This is strange as I usually only get sick once a year like in January or February.

I had colds, flues, and tonsillitis repeatably last January through March again and again where I just got sick again as soon as I got over one cold. These were my first 3 months in Korea. And then I went exactly 6 months until now with out any issues while I saw many Koreans come down with colds and tonsillitis during the summer months, including those I work with.

I noticed many of my students have came down sick this week too. But why? It sure is too early for this to be happening and doesn't seem normal for all these colds and tonsillitis to be going around already.

Koreans apparently have no concept of the communicability of disease. It annoys the slurry out of me when I have a student arrive for class coughing and dribbling and sneezing into the centre of the room and complaining "urrrggh, my condition is not good. I have flu". You have flu? Then get out of my fucking classroom then! And don't go to work either. Tchoh.

I drink a bottle of soju before I go to bed every night, so I know I'm safe. Silly people, if soju can prevent/cure aids, cancer, malaria, gayness, it can certainly kill the flu. DUH! Don't you people have university educations?

This is, perhaps the single most annoying thing that I hate about Korean people. The majority will not cover their mouths when spewing their saliva and snot in crowded public places. Do they know they should cover their mouths when sneezing/coughing and just don't care? Or are they just oblivious and just don't care about anyone but themselves? I'll never know.

Teach your children well.

Agreed.

I'm choking up right now. Downed a bottle of SA wine, still, added that to my headache. Thought it was just my smoking until I saw this thread. This year is terrible for my illness. Usually I don't get it much.

I do suggest people invest in a trip to the Oriental doctor and get a month's 'po-yak' the uh, herbal sachets that you heat up and drink - for the cold or flu. I got the cold three times a year until wife took me to the quack. After I took the herbal mix I didn't get a cold for three years, that's no lie.

They say the first time you use it the effect is very strong. Unfortunately my body has reverted back (I've approached middle age now) and I wonder if any remedies will fix me up. But, I do recommend those sachets. Take the doctor trip. Get the poyak or hanyak.

The whole fam is sick as a dog at the moment, the little one especially. Probably has something to do with being mauled at every turn by kids and adults alike in Andong.
