Does anyone have any experience buying a wedding dress in Korea? Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. |

| I'm sorry I cant give more specific directions but there is a famous street in Korea so I've been told where you can buy loads of Wedding dresses. It might be near Ewha or Jongro. I'm not certain but there is a street with loads of shops on. |

I think that if you do it through a wedding hall, you just rent it. That's what she did. I was too big, and had to have a tux made.
We were married here. You can find it a few blocks North of Kyobo books and Kangnam:

nzsurfergal,
It's a personal question, but how much did it cost to get a wedding dress made for you?? If you do not wish to disclose the cost on this board, please PM me.
Regards

| it was 250,000 won. I just took a picture of what I wanted, picked out fabric and she just made it. Theres a shoemaker near by too so I also got matching shoes made for 80,000 won as well. The dressmaker gave the shoemaker some of the material for the shoes, so everything matched perfectly. |

Renting is the usual thing done here.
We took a wedding dress from the UK, and a kilt for me.
I would say you would probably get one made cheaper here, but I don't know if you could get one which looks as nice as a Western made one? |

thanks for all the responses thus far. I guess I should have mentioned that I'm not getting married here, so I need to buy one. I also need to try them on before having one made. I do appreciate the recommendation for the seamstress!
If anyone knows a specific shop I would appreciate a name and location. My Korean is terrible, so I'm hoping to find a sales person who speaks English. I think I may be hoping for a lot |

Believe it or not, I bought my wedding dress on the internet from New York and got them to ship it over (paid quite a heafty amount for tax!!)...
But.. I got my reception dress made in the street that you asked about by Ewha Women's University. You get the tube to e-dae ibgu (ewha women's university entrance). I *think* it's exit 8 but I am not sure. Either way you won't miss it. The whole street on either side sells dresses.
My reception dress, in a lilac in chiffon, cost only 200,000 5 years ago, including 3/4 fittings!
Good luck and congrats!
ETA: don't worry about not speaking Korean... just say *wedding dress* and ask them to show you pictures... I walked down the street and saw a dress on display, so I walked in and 10 minutes later, I was measured up and paid 10% down as deposit - and I didn't speak much Korean then! It was a bit of a leap of faith but it turned out beautifully. PM me and I will show you a picture
One more thing to add: you can always find pictures on the internet of dresses that you like and ask them to make it - they are perfectly willing to do that. If you are unsure of what kind of dress will suit you, you can always try some similar ones on first and then have the one you want made. |

| There is an area of Seoul called "Wedding Town," and it is choc-full of wedding dress shops. Go to Ahyeon Station (Line 2, exit 1) and walk a few blocks. You will see row upon row of wedding dresses and halls after about 5 minutes (as well as a few "glass houses"...) |
