I was just fired from my job after 3 months. It doesn't bother me. I wasn't happy there anyway. Now my employer says I have to go with him to the immigration office to cancel my visa. Do I really have to go? Can't he just cancel it without me? I'd like to get another job in Korea, but I'd rather not have to deal with the employer anymore and don't want to waste my time on a trip to the office with someone I don't get along with anyway. Suggestions? |

Don't go. He doesn't need you there to cancel your visa. |

OP........GO. Go with your boss, and make sure it is cancelled. Because, once the visa is cancelled, you don't need a letter of release to obtain another position. And, this will prevent any future "misunderstandings" about whether or not your boss cancelled the visa.
Just go....get it done...shake hands and be on your way.

Yes, you need to go. You can even go, on your own, before he goes, and explain what happened and show Immigration the Letter of Release. You NEVER know what a hogwan owner will tell Immigration. Be there to make sure the real story is told to Immigration. This can save you a big hassle down the line- if you want to get another teaching visa in Korea.
BTW- Congratulations on being freed from that place. |
