I'm not allowed to PM yet, because I haven't written 25 posts. Here is what I posted earlier:

ttompatz, I have a question about exit orders.

I was fired from my job at three months, and received a letter stating I had 14 days to leave the country (an exit order). BUT, there was no stamp on my visa saying void, or cancelled, or anything like that. So the visa looks like it is still valid, even though it is not (I hope). Also, I never turned in my ARC.

Now I'm home in the US. I want to go back to Korea to look for a job on my own. How would I go about doing this?

I'm not ttompatz or a visa expert. However, you don't give enough information for anyone to answer your question with any degree of reliability.

Who gave you the letter? Was it from Immigration or your employer? What was your visa status?

A) If the letter was from your employer, it is meaningless but may assist you in cancelling your visa at immigration.

B) If it was from immigration then you are good to come back and find a new job without problem.

IF you are American AND your visa was not canceled (case A) you will still be on it when you return and will have to get it cancelled before you can get a new visa and start a new job. You letter may help you here (like a LOR).

IF your visa WAS cancelled when you left (case B) you will enter on a 30 day visa waiver stamp on your return to Korea. This will leave you free to find a new job, make your visa run and start again.

C) If your old visa has expired then the rest of the details do not matter. Come back and start again.

Thanks for your advice. It helps a lot.

The letter was given to me by my employer who went to immigration with my passport. It is an official exit order letter, with a red stamp, etc. I don't know how wise it was to give my passport to my employer, but that's what I did. For some reason, though, they didn't stamp or mark anything on my actual visa.

The visa was due to expire March of 08. But because I have the letter, I assume it is void. Also, yes, I'm American.
