Does vista need a language IME?
Specifically, if I buy a notebook with vista overseas, can I just change the language easily, or do I need a Korean version of vista? |

Thanks, but the outlook is not good.
I want to be able to switch the language of everything... and not rely on an IME of any sort -- kind of like a Mac does.
I want to buy a computer in the USA that costs twice as much here (for my mother-in-law). |

With Windows Vista Ultimate, you can download language packs for about 20 different languages. They completely change the language for the OS. |

Correct.
AFAIK, only Vista Ultimate will do it. Not sure about that though. You might have to specifically ask for Vista Ultimate as they may feel it's too heavy for laptops. And, of course, pay more. |

You are correct. Only Enterprise and Ultimate Editions will allow you to switch between the languages easily, as a Mac would.
Here is the answer I was looking for:
