I've noticed a lot of broken feet and ankles. Perhaps it has something to do with flimsy footwear and the way they wear shoes. I've also noticed more broken fingers. Considering the stress on getting kids to drink milk these days I'm guessing it's not from a lack of calcium.

Of course one also notices a lot more suspicious looking injuries of various sorts in Korea.

They run around the halls aimlessly I've seen them practically ram into and knock over their teachers. I've had several close calls myself but I'm always able to dodge them last minute.

They run up and down the stairs in those ridiculous slippers

Oh yea my kids are pretty mischievous little rascals. There are at least 6 or 7 students with either broken arms, fingers, or legs.

In one of my grade two middle school classes, there were two boys with broken legs and two with broken arms. One of the lads broke his leg while trying to "jump the roof!"

True... and this is while they're standing on the sidewalk waiting for the principal to hold out his flag and blow his whistle. Students aren't worth much and a few won will take care of the price of a cast. Rolling Eyes

Nice-uh.

I almost took out a fellow today on my motorbike. I don't know...the whole "look both ways before you cross" really sunk in my head as a kid. Maybe they don't teach it here.

I tell my students to "Go play in traffic"... maybe it'll reduce the class size. Wink

The term 'out of control' is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Korean children.

I had an entire class of students whose Korean teacher made them write essays about why milk is bad for you. One look at how many kids here have broken bones - or at all the women over forty waking around with hunchbacks - should be proof enough Korea has a calcium deficiency problem.
