Can it be done during the same contract (i.e. mid-visa)?
Renewed my E2 for a second year. Got married recently and now eligible for F-visa. Heading down to the immi office. Do I have to leave/complete my job and start a new one for this to take effect or can I apply right now? And is this the same as applying for an additional place of employment form (for indie business)?

You do NOT have to wait until your E2 expires.
It is similar to an addition
BUT
The documents are different and you will need your wife.
