Inside The Incredibly Shrinking Role Of the Supreme Court.
The first Monday in October has come and gone, and with it the beginning of the Court's annual session. Time magazine has a lengthy but interesting article about the decreasing relevance of the Court. The article is rather negative in tone, which surprised me, coming from Time. The author clearly believes that the Court has retreated into an almost irrelevant position where they endlessly debate minutae rather than broad priciples.
Maybe this means Court appointments will stop being so contentious.

Well, when the current conservative administration finally expires, they'll still be around.
And they'll rule as the last vestige of the early backwardness that will personify the Bush era.
Even if the Republicans win the next election, conservative hopes of outlawing abortion are done.
In that sense, we have survived. Cheers to us. |

Sorry to disappoint.
If the REAL Supremes were back, it would be headline news. Especially since those Supremes have more effect on our lives than this current line-up. (OK, slight exaggeration there.) |
