Last week the Board of Education had a speech and skit contest for the Middle School students.
One of the topics was about "discrimination". I was shocked when one of the middle school students topic was about the Korea-American shooting at Virgina Tech. That he wanted to pay back the people who was mean to him and made fun of his as he was growing up as a Korean-American in America.
I know that the Middle School student didn't write the topic, but I'm sure that the Korean English teacher did write the topic. If you live in and grow up in KOrea, why don't you talk about discrimination in Korea.
Everyday I read or hear about someone being discrimminated agaist in KOrea. |

Students in the USA pick on all people regardless of color, nationality, etc. Simply being Korean may have added some specific name calling (i.e. "You eat dog meat!"), but ALL students, even white students, are picked on. |

Discrimination and being picked on (bullied) are two very different unrelated things! Perhaps the teacher should have explained that to the students. |
