I think this is the correct place to post this...

I am finishing up here in a few months, and was contemplating working for an NGO. This way, I can be all idealistic and "try to save the world" while actually getting paid (ostensibly).

However, I seem to be having a very difficult time trying to find one that is best suited for me- I have done numerous searches, but keep hitting dead ends or useless links.

Does anyone have any suggestions for getting into NGOs, or have any experience themselves? Even an organized website would be useful at this point. Right now, I am simply feeling overwhelmed because I know there are many, many organizations out there but don't know how to narrow it down to those for which I am looking.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I understand the frustration... I'm currently applying to the Peace Corps (nominated and just waiting for medical clearance!!), but before I made the decision to go that route I looked a bit into finding a job with an NGO. Like most jobs, they want someone with a couple of years (at least) of experience.
