Just curious.
I'm at around 240.
Feels like a lot. I spend all my non-teaching time grading. But I am a TOEFL writing teacher.
Still, I'm pretty sure the amount of essays a teacher grades per week should NEVER exceed their weight in pounds.
You? |

sounds awful size-ist to me. eat more, you'll be better suited for your work.
but seriously, how many minutes do you spend on each one? |

More time than I should, apparently.
Maybe 2-3 minutes? Check the grammar, spelling, punctuation, structure.
Then examine how well the message comes across, the composition.
Then give it a grade and leave some comments. |

I'd grab an Armalite AR15 and roam the building pumping round-after-round in colleagues and co-workers if had that workload.
I currently have to grade obout 50 pararaphs (various levels, mostly beginner thoough) and 12 essays a week.

This month, 80. Usually, 50 every two weeks. 3-6 pages each, typically. |

I guess they're playing me well for this? They pay me the same that I would be making if I were playing Solitaire during this time.
So, yeah there's room for freelancers. As long as they want to grade essays for free. |

Well, I guess the .308 has more stopping power. One Shot - One Kill |

45 a week in the coming semester. My choice, though. I think students should receive frequent feedback. |

All that in 2-3 minutes? It takes me 10 minutes for a simple 12-sentence paragraph! How the hell do you do essays in 2-3 minutes? |

2-3 minutes sounds like a target. I'm at more like 5, what with writing comments and all.
Working for one of those agencies that grades state writing exams teaches you to mark essays FAST! |

I spend 10-15 minutes on a 2-page essay. I'd like to go faster, but I feel much more comfortable if I read it a couple times before I begin correcting it and making comments. |
