I'm going back to Korea for a couple of weeks in December, and I'm planning on making food for my relatives. Does anyone know if E-mart sells extra virgin olive oil and/or balsamic vinegar?

Yes, but not-very-good olive oil, and 'possibly' on the vinegar, but again, it won't be very good. Mediterranean types are hardly going to waste the premium stuff on the Korean market, are they?

Unless E-Mart has changed a lot in the past year or so since I last went there...........I reckon it must be the worst supermarket in Korea for foreign goods.

Not E-mart (sorry) but I did notice a rather spectacular selection of olive oils and balsamic vinegar at the Green Store in Hyundai department store at Cheonho at the weekend.

You can get it but it's expensive. Save the space in your luggage for things more difficult to find like Kalamata olives, pesto, anchovies and salt & vinegar crisps

I like Homeplus over Emart due to Homplus having a better selection at slightly lower prices and better bargains on things Korean. For example, you can get really good Hikoka coffee freshly ground at Homemplus, but Emart doesn't have any good coffee. I get EV olive oil at Homeplus and it's good. There also is more bacon, ham, and foreign products since it's a joint venture with Tesco out of England which means having a selection of western products from European countries that Emart lacks since Emart is not international.

For those of you in Changwon such as Justbecause, you know that Homeplus beats the pants off of Emart, though Emart plays really cool music in store and is more hip, chic, and modern in style.

Food is still outragiously expensive at Homeplus, but it's the best store locally. I know Costco in Daegu or Seoul probably beats the pants off of any other store in Korea, but that's a trip and a half not possible of an evening after work.

Homeplus also seems to carry some Tesco's brands.

The Emart in Cheonho still stocks Bega cheddar cheese and Italian olive oil but I'm not too sure about Balsamic vinegar. Maybe Hyundai/Lotte dept stores might have some.
