Was wondering how i get one of these from Korea. I am applying for the EPIK program and will not have time to leave the country after this contract.

Has anyone else had this experience? I've been in Korea for nearly two months (first job) working in a public school. A few days ago (before the news about the Canadian pedophile broke) I received a request from my boss asking the other foreign teachers and me to get a criminal background check, at our expense no less.

I have no objection to the check (except asking me to pay for it), but for the life of me can't understand why this wasn't requested BEFORE they hired me.

Like AwesomeA, I have no idea how to get a check done while I am here. Is this a common request in Korea? Can it be done here? If so, should I have to pay for it?

HOW you get it done depends on WHERE you are FROM.

AND

If you are on staff already, make your school pay for it or refuse to do it.

FWIW, I'm from the USA. And yes, I plan on telling them I will not pay for it.

Your local state should have an on-line application.

I know the FBI has the federal check application on-line.

You can get your fingerprinting done at one of the larger police stations here.
There is NO cost for printing.
