Hi there,

We are in the process of buying a car - a used hyundai accent. We have a few insurance companies in mind, but we'd like to know what is the average insurance cost for this kind of car? We are under 26, on an E2 visa, teaching at a hagwon- we have heard that there may be discounts for public school teachers, but not hagwon teachers with educar. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

If you are in Seoul, check Itaewon. I don't recall what I used to pay for liability back in 2003, but it wasn't much. I was with AIG. They have offices in the vicinity of any major military base with English speaking staff.

i use anycar insurance from samsung, about $400 a year for an SM3 (basic insurance)...u should aim to pay less than $500, but of course it depends on the type of policy u have.

Right, it depends on your nationality, too... actually, Koreans have to pay MORE than I do, all else equal....as well as the year of the car. Did you say the year? that affects the rate.

I have a 97 daewoo and I paid about 500,000 for a year. Im from the usa and between 30 and 40....

Great, thanx for all the advice! But I have heard that buying your insurance online with companies like Daum Direct are a little cheaper. Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks!
