Hi all,
This isn't my first year in Korea, so I should really already know the answer to this, but I just want to double check....
I've heard people mention the "Change of Employer" option on forms at immigration.
Surely there's no chance that this is a way to leave one school and work at another without actually cancelling your old visa and getting a new one, is there?????
Any advice / info would be much appreciated.

If you are moving from a hagwon (H) to a public school (P.S) then the answer is no.
If you are moving from a P.S to another P.S then the answer can be Yes or maybe.
The best thing to do is to ask two or three different Immigration officers before trying. At least thats what I found, but I have been told this year that it is dependent on the education office and immigration office.
So, good luck. |

I'm going through a recruiter, moving from a hagwon to a public school, and my contact told me that I could just transfer the visa...as long as my boss doesn't cancel it.
I will check this out with the public school. I would like another trip to Japan. |

It changes all the time, so don't take this as settled, but when I wanted to change from a Hagwon to a P.S., I was told that I had to leave the country and re-enter on a new visa.
If I wanted to change P.S's then I could change the visa in the country as P.S.'s had a special arrangement.
Though I have had to re-establish my legitimacy 4 times this year, since starting with a P.S, so nothings set in stone.
At least try, it cost me a lot to change my visa 8 months ago, so I would try now for the easier way. |
