Weight gain does not result from peoples actions such as over-indulgence or laziness alone, and is a far more passive phenomenon than is often assumed, according to Foresight.

I think what they are saying is that people used to have jobs where physical exercise was a key component of the job, ie; factor workers lifting heavy objects, farmers doing labourious tasks, etc. Now a lot more people are sitting in a cubicle for 8+ hours a day working at a computer and not doing anything physical.

The moral of the story is: the more sedentary your life, the more you have to watch what you eat, and how much of it.

Seems obvious but apparently we need doctors, scientists and think tanks to point it out. Maybe we are all getting dumber and that's why we're putting on the pounds (or stones or kilos or whatever the hell measurement people use now Very Happy )
