Question: Public school contracts next year will be finishing on a weekend. August 30-31 is a Saturday and a Sunday. For those of us with such contracts, do we still get paid for the last weekend even though TECHNICALLY we arent "working".

I guess a better way to put it is WILL we be paid? I feel as if we SHOULD, but...Im being realistic. Anyone know or have experience in such a case?

You're paid monthly, I'm assuming. Each day of the month counts: working days, holidays, and weekends. Doesn't matter if the last days of your contract are on the weekend.

Yes, logic says this...however, how realsitic is this to expect it?

Does anyone have any firsthand experience? Does the school look at you as if your mad when you explain that you should be paid for days you don't "work"?

Did they pay you for a full month back in June? June 30th was a Saturday.

You're not making any sense. They have to pay you up until the end of your contract whether the last day is a Sunday, Saturday, or any day.

OH! I'll have to check if I got paid for June 30th!! Now that you mention it, I'm not 100% sure!! Rolling Eyes

The difference is we get paid on the 25th...so they willl prorate the following 7 days (2 of which are a weekend)....so i was WONDERING if they will say, "oh hey, you only worked for 5 days, and don't work the weekend, so will will give you 5 days worth of pay". This is Korea, don't even TRY and tell me that doesn't sound like something that would happen.

Ugh, why do i BOTHER! Rolling Eyes

When did you start working for them? What's the starting date on your contract?

If you started on the 1st of a month then you get paid on the 25th for the 1st to the 30th/31st. That's what they're supposed to do.

If you started with them on an obscure date like the 3rd or the 27th and you've been paid the exact amount the contract reads every pay, then your last pay could be different.

Anyway, if you're contracted to the end of a month, they have to pay you for that time.

I don't know if they'll try to screw you out of it. If you're nearing the end of your contract, why don't you just ask them?
