Just looking for some up to date recomendations for a good dentist ins Seoul/Gyeonggi - Ansan area.

Just went to a dentist with a tooth ache, wasn't too inspired.

Nothing showed up on his x-ray, think the machine didn't give very clear images, he suggested it was a gum infection or pain due to a receded gum and a good cleaning might fix it. He suggested a root canal might be the other option. I feel that a cavety between the teeth near the receded gum line is causing pain due to the thin enemal over the root. I'm not too keen to have a root canal done when I can't see any problems on the x-ray. There is a dark area where I suspect the decay is. I need a better x-ray and a better dentist (he's a nice guy, but from what I've read a cavety can cause a tooth ache and a root canal is not the only option).

Any one know where I can go these days, checked the stickys, decided look for some more up to date info for 2007.

Earthbound,

I highly recommend Ye dental clinic in the Seoul Financial center in gwanghwamun. Fluent English-speaking American-trained dentist, a fluent English-speaking assitant who guides you through the whole process, private, spotless treatment rooms, and a thorough exam with the in-mouth camera thingy so that you can see what is actually wrong with your teeth.

They are a bit pricey, but imho worth it. I went because I'm a big scaredy-cat and he made absolutely sure that I didn't feel any pain.

Search my user name for a more thorough account of my experience there.

I have been to the Seoul National University Dental Hospital the last couple of weeks ... and been very happy with the treatment I have had ... which started with an emergency room visit on a Sunday morning ... with a complicated tooth abcess ... I do not like Dentists very much ... but have been happy with my treatment here ... There is also an International liason person with fluent English who can go with you as needed to appointments etc to translate if needed ... The dentist I have seen had relatively fluent English but she has helped with paying and making appointments ... and finding my way around hospital which mainly just has signs/directions in Korean ... I think this is worth adding to the list of options ... and also worth knowing that they do have a small emergency room ...
