I was on one of my trips to Seoul at a bar. I heard these two guys talking and one mentioned that he was out one night and there was this "drunken Canadian idiot", etc. Something to that effect. The way he said it was depicting Canadians to be typically this way.

It's not the first time I've heard something like this. Is this true? Where does it come from? Are Americans more reserved and careful in public?

This is an impossible question to answer without looking at alcoholism statistics, and then it's hard to say who gets "drunker" in public.

But my European friends say the people who get the most drunk and disorderly at tourist spots are Americans. I bet they see Canadians, though, and think they are yankees.

I don't believe Canadians are any more or less drunkards than Americans but, in my opinion, are vastly more aggressive when intoxicated. Maybe it's all the hockey bravado or something...

It's difficult to get it wrong when they have "I'm canadian" t-shirt on. Or maybe it's the Yanks trying to give them a bad name by wearing the t-shirt.

There are rubbish/aggressive/loud drinkers everywhere. I don't think you can pin it on one in particular. The Irish don't seem too bad though!

The Irish? I've met a few drunken Irish people in Korea, but then they seem to have drunk most bars dry in order to reach that stage!

Is that directed at me? I'd outdrink you one for one anyday. Then, after you're passed out, I'd put on my steel-toe boots and give you 20 kicks to yer arse. The next day you'd wake up thinking you were raped, ferry boy.

I am American, and I am absolutely *beep*-faced drunk. But am I more drunk than a typical Canadian?

I think we need to set up a sidewalk breathalyzer unit somewhere and get readings from people. Canadian and American people. And hot chicks.

Yes, you fruit. It is directed at you. The fact that you care shows how much of a ponce you are. Now shut it.

Not really. I don't even really care about that Canadian vs American nonsense. I just wanted to know if this is how Canadians are perceived by Americans. Or, better yet, if it's some common stereotype. Just seems strange to me. I live in the country and have only spent, at the longest, weekends in Seoul. I don't get much exposure to the foreign culture there. A bit out of the loop. Usually I just skip over the American/Canadian threads here.

Anyway, not all that important. Just curious.

Drinking and feuds aside....kicking a man you just drank with and when he's passed out? Class. Then you called Pyongshin "Peter Jackson" after saying HE'D feel like he was raped by YOU? It doesn't add up.

Wright of Weigh? Are you talking about home breweries or microbreweries? I don't know about home, but micro goes to the USA, hands down.
