Hello all. I graduated from Simon Fraser University and work for the Gyeongi public school system. Apparently, they now require teachers to be able to log in to some kind of student internet services on their University homepage to show proof that you went to university.

Although I've already provided my degree (which is definitely real) and transcripts, they require me to log in to the university site. The problem is, SFU students don't get to keep their log in ID for that website after they graduate. I think it expires in a year or 6 months or something (it did for me).

Anyhow, what is one to do in this situation? Has anyone had this issue? I have alumni email services, with valid login, but they won't seem to accept that as proof! This is annoying both me and my coteacher! Plz help!

Does Simon Fraser not have an Alumni site? My Canadian school does and I logged in for them. They also wanted to see a list of Alumni which I kindly explained to them that contravenes Canadian Privacy laws. After all that they copied my degree, my transcripts and my Alumni Card and made me sign it all saying it was real. That seems to have ended the issue.

Mine got me to sign authorisation for some outside firm (outside of Korea) to get the confirmation information for them ... re the degree .... so I didn't have to do anything other than sign that authorisation ... and then a few days later to sign something which had apparently come back confirmating that I did have the diploma in question ...

So it looks like different parts of the province or different schools are handing the same issue differently ... I know that there are at least some other people who had a similar request to what I had ... and have heard of others with the provide list of alumni question (which I could also not have done ... ) ...

This requirement hasn't been mentioned to me, but perhaps it's only a matter of time until I share your frustration.

If alumni email services are only available to those who have graduated, as is the case at SFU, that should (I know, I know...) be sufficient proof that your name and student number are in the alumni database. Why this isn't sufficient proof of graduation is beyond me.

Good luck.

Just tell them you can't do it.... my school never liked this and thought it was going to cause a huge problem for me, until I pointed out that the worst it could get would be a firing with 60 days pay... which will pay my airfare back to England and give me a nice holiday before I come bak and get another job for more money.

They called the education office and after a few minutes of conversation (probably about how likely it could be that I was bluffing) I was asked to sign some paper saying that it was impossible for me to prove my degree is real, but it is... honest! I was then told "problem solved".

I know. This is a little silly. So, I got my coteacher to talk on the phone with SFU, and the guy explained to her what I already explained. Now, I printed off copies of my email login for them, and although this was rejected before, hopefully with the number I provided them (they can talk to the university) they can see that there is no possible way for me to get my transcripts. I think logging into the email should be enough...

This is annoying.... but it doesn't bother me, as I know I've graduated! I guess you just have to somehow prove to them you've done everything you can... which I am doing now.

Not only that, but Gyonngi public school teachers have now been asked to produce
a criminal check verification from the federal law enforcement authorities of their
repective home countries. This all starts at this end by the teachers having to
go to the nearest "police box" to have their finger prints taken and a report
filled out for the home law enforcement agencies by the officer in charge. Cool
