I haven't seen the episode and I don't intend to, but "Scandal" is completely FAKE...it only appears like "Cheaters" at first glance. Like people in other threads have said, it's so bad you can tell it's fake after...hell, a whole FIVE minutes or so.
Sure, there's a lot of spacegoating of foreigners going on in the Korean media at the moment, but jeez, absolutely NO Koreans give a flying c r a p about Scandal's take on the white devil. |

"A 30 year old Canadian gets caught on cam cheating on his Korean fiancee on a Korean reality show called 'Scandal' which is a Korean version of the American 'Cheaters' "
Yes, and like Cheaters, it is bad fiction and worse acting.
Get over it. Most Koreans are very cynical of local media. Only the dumbest and most gullible ones pay attention to these stories. |

I know I'm tired of being spacegoated. |

Cheaters is fake. When they fight the hits never connect.
Scripts are good though.I liked the one with the hoopy mudang banging the guys wife. When caught he started shaking his antler shaped rattle on his knees and stuffing money from the wife in his drawers. |

Isn't the first one a compliment to the foreigner and a sign that the Korean was immoral? |

Fictional or not (okay, fictional), having a segment on this show as described above shows off Korean sentiment on the infidelity of foreigners. |

Do they single out foreigners doing these things, or do they also show Koreans? If the latter, I don't see what the problem is. I hope no one is suggesting they simply refrain from reporting news or having shows involving nefarious waegs. |

I personally know this fellow. We talk to each other quite frequently over the phone. In fact, I was the first person to know about this incident. He is quite vulgar and obnoxious and thinks of himself as a loser. Maybe that's why I keep him as a friend. He is like Kramer, that character on Seinfeld but actually the actor who plays Kramer. Forget his name. Remember the N-word incident that took place during one of his stand-up comic routines that sparked a protest? He told me the other day that some lady from KBS contacted him for an interview. He told her to go to hell and called her a 3rd world monkey. I told him that he should have negotiated a fee for an interview. Who knows? Maybe this whole thing may end up making him rich after all. |

I re-edited my other post to include your quote. This guy sounds like a hoot. I wouldn't mind going out with you and him for a few beers some time in the future. It does, however sound like he got set up by some of the uber-nationalistic union K-teachers that we have lurking around in our schools. |
