Good film. Not entirely believable but, so what, it's a movie.

Certainly more truthful than American History X and Romper Stomper, which were propagandist pieces of junk that both helped spread white supremacism worldwide. This movie cast real skinheads in some of the roles so to me the beginning parts felt like just hanging out with a bunch of regular skinheads. It shows how the whole movement went from plain old youths to white supremacists. The ending was kind of abrupt though and seemed a little too cathartic for the director.

Out of curiosity, what's not believeable?

Well, 20-something Skinheads hanging out with a 12 year old boy. But maybe they saw him as a kind of mascot. That could be the case.

Most of all, the black Skinhead seemed to be way too trusting of the Combo character. I don't really think a black Skinhead would ever trust a rabid NAZI like Combo.

Also, the girl who copped off with the 12 year old boy. She looked about 18!! Would an 18 year-old ever go out with a 12 year old, obiviously immature, boy. A bit weird.

Anyway, I still enjoyed the film. I don't need ultra-realism to enjoy a movie.

The character in American history X didn't really look like a skinhead. I have yet to see a skinhead sporting a goatee. He looked much more like
how a wrestler would look if they tried to sport a puedo skinhead look.

There's a trojan skin movement that is totally against racism. Most of the audiences of Ska concerts are skinheads. The early skins were actually hard mods. They traded in thier parkas for flight jackets

I wouldn't call that stuff unbelievable, just crazy. It seemed all the main skinheads were pretty young themselves. That girl is probably a freak, though. You are probably right though--I doubt there are many 12-year-old skinheads these days. Still, it's easier to believe that one than the characters in Romper Stomper.

I've known a couple black skinheads, and one of them was surprisingly tolerant of white supremacism. A little too much of the tension in the movie was based on the audience's fear that he would eventually attack the black guy. To me, I felt a lot more tension between the main skinhead and the white power guy.

I've met a few with goatees.

The traditional skinhead movement isn't in practice anti-racist. It's just non-racist, with the assumption that racism is in itself stupid. There's also a fair bit of anti-anti-racism, as most SHARPs these days are temperamental basstards with too much testosterone and not enough enemies.

I met the girl who played the skinhead girl in Degrassi high. One of the few girls who could pull off the chelsie look. Really nice and good looking.
She used to go to ska night above Lee's palace on Bloor street in Toronto.
