Just two months ago I was telling myself that I'd be just fine staying here for a year or two beyond my contract. Now, six months into my contract, I'm deeply bored and starting to count the months on the calendar, wanting to be back home. So, I'm curious, what is the typical cycle of your ups and downs?
Another question, have any of you re-signed at a new school and found yourself in a second honeymoon? |

Yeah, It goes like that.
To stay positive requires effort. It also helps big time to have an all absorbing hobby, activity or plan. Just working and drinking on its own will sink you I think. |

I think it's all cyclical. After 2 months I was bored. I started taking Korean classes for about 3 months then had to stop due to a change in work schedule. In the meantime, started going to the gym pretty regularly. I'm a bit bored of that, or better yet, it's not as exciting as it was, so I will start taking Korean classes again in November.
regardless of what it is, you gotta get out of the house and do something.
Not sure of your location, so that may be a factor.... |

Yeah, good advice.
I don't drink save for a glass of wine once in a blue moon. But I agree, it'll sink ya. It's a depressant.
Getting out and doing something is the key. Having a goal or a plan makes a lot of difference.
I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that I don't feel to be accomplishing much right now. At school, they've been testing and I've had nothing really to do for quite some time. Yeah, i'm getting a check; but that does not satisfy.
I'm thinking about doing another year. Does switching jobs generally help to pick up the mood? |

I know it's a dork-tastic solution, but I say MMORPG. Yeah, I tried World of Warcraft and found it ridiculous, but there are others. I've been playing City of Heroes. (Actually an NCSoft game.) It's a fun video game with the added benefit of a community of people you can interact with via chat. I've never been much for the whole "netisticular" business, but in preparation for the possible isolation in Korea I've been dabbling, and, other than Dave's, CoH is the only other net specific thing I can stand.
Other than porn.
Straight porn performed by people of an appropriate age. (Odd how, not even being in SK, I felt the need to make that caveat.) |

What's wrong with gay porn performed by people of an appropriate age?
OP, when I go through the down cycle, I plan a weekend or day trip. Believe me, it's the last damn thing I want to do in that mood, but when I go, it always perks me up. (I wish I'd taken that advice when it was raining and grey every damn weekend!)
I also stock up at Costco. |
