When I was working at a hagwon, I worked 4 days a week and taught from 4:00 to 10:00 but had to be at the hagwon by 3:30 and stayed until 10:30 so I actually worked 7 hours a day/ 28 hours a week. Prep was minimal so will only add another 30 minutes per day and then I'll throw in another hour on top of everything for time spent dealing with my HI and any staff meetings. So roughly 31 hours a week or 140 hours a month. Monthly gross paycheck (though I didn't even end up working a full month) would have roughly come out to 3.24 million won/month (based on 108 hours) with no benefits whatsoever. yeah i worked for THAT hagwon. (you know, the one that garywhatshisname is always foaming at the mouth about.)

Now at my new company, I've been here less than a month but honestly don't see an end in sight to this schedule. 10:00 am - 10:00 pm. That's 12 hours a day spent in the office. But take away 2 hours for lunch and errands, another hour for dinner, and another 1 hour of just messing around and that still comes out to 8 hours of actual "work time." But I now work 5 days a week instead of 4 and often take work home on the weekends so my hours have increased from roughly 31 to about 45 hours a week. My salary is better than what I would've made at the hagwon but less than what I would've made if I stayed at the hagwon and worked the increased number of hours on the same hourly rate. If you're really bright, you can probably figure out roughly how much I'm making. Or if you're really bright like Mr. Thundarrcat and his peon, Jinju, you can probably figure out that I'm a girl acting like a guy waving my dick in the air. Rolling Eyes

BUT my cell phone is paid for, my dinners are paid for and most of my lunches too (so far). I also have an expense account for biz meals/drinks, taxi fare, etc. I get medical/dental, two weeks paid vacation and get to go to Europe, the US and maybe even other parts of Asia for business 4-5x a year. I also have 4 people under me who will literally drink when I tell them to, pour my drinks and serve me first at every meal and automatically refill my water cup.

Yeah, perks at my new job are sweet but 12 hours a day in the office for how long...and then some nights, drinking til 1 am with the co-workers? Damn it's taking a toll on my body. Yeah, I'm tired. Yeah, I'm sorta complaining. Happy? Would I trade my job to go back to the hagwon world? No way, man. Cool Peace out. There's hope for some of you yet.

I'd say you made all the right touches in the right places in your post. So good that it's bad. Pretty transparent.

Take it easy.
