Hey everybody. I'm going to teaching in Bundang in three weeks and was wondering if there were any nice gyms there and what the prices were. I like to keep fit. Also, are there any basketball courts(indoor or outdoor)? Thanks in advance for any info. and help. |

You can find basketball courts near the Tancheon river, apartment buildings, or some nice dirt courts at any public school.
Be prepared to spend at least 80,000W/month for a health club in Bundang. Since the area is quite affluent you'll be paying more than you would, say in Seoul |

There are lots of great gyms. It will largely depend on where you are going to live and what you are looking for in your gym.
Do you want many cardio machines? Circuit training? Aerobics classes? Yoga?
Do want a small gym or a larger one? Individual tvs at machines or no?
I go to the Heness gym at Migeum station. It's 180,000 won for 3 months and it's decent.
No classes but the staff is really friendly and helpful.

I go to the Sports9 in the Poonglim Iwant Bldg between Seohyeon and Imae stations. Completely overpriced (around 90000won/month with a 1 year membership) but it's still the best around. It has dumbbells up to 34 kg, freeweights, machines, and plenty of treadmills for people to walk at 5 kph on. Gyms don't exist for the young and fit in Korea. They're around for the idle elderly who go there to waste a few hours doing nothing in the sauna. As such, reasonable prices and quality equipment are not a priority. |

The fact that your dumb bells top out at less then 40kg I find depressing. But then I'd long ago given up the hopes of finding a gym with dumb bells that go up to at least 100 kg. |

Do you know what time they open? 90,000/month is crazy, but there really isn't anything that much better in the area. I'm not about to travel to Migeum or Yatap to save 30,000/month because I'd be spending at least that much in transportation fees getting there. |
