In your esteemed opinion what would you say Korea is the hub of?

Is it the hub of banking with its foreign friendly banking services?

Is it a financial hub?

Is it a hub or hospitality and tourism?

A technological hub

a hub(cap) of an Edsel (LOL)

Don't you know that claiming Korea will become the hub of this or the hub of that is nationalism based marketing aimed at Korean consumers and electors?

While were at it what is "Ubiquitous"
Never heard of this terminology, until coming to Korea.
Never heard of "S Line" either.

I predict that within 20 years, Korea will be the hub of North-East Asia. That's if we don't include, China, Japan or Taiwan (not really NE, but close enough.) Yeah, you heard me! Take that Mongolia.

I was going to add...In doing so, they are also trying to catch the attention of foreign investors. Korea needs to appear especially dynamic (hey, 'Dynamic Korea'. Hmmm) if it wants to attract foreign investment now. An increasingly large number of foreign investors are concentrating their investments in the region in China, Vietnam, Singapore, and/or Malaysia.

Hub = Hopelessly Unrealistic Bollocks.

Hong Kong and Singapore are the hubs of Asia and that's largely to do with being former British Empire. The Brits didn't colonize Korea because they couldn't be arsed presumably, therefore it's not the Hub. Can't argue with logic like that.

They will never be a hub as their heart isn't in it. It's all government propaganda and paid advertising posing as news on CNN. Korea just fell 6 points on the globalization index. I'd like to know how a nation where everything foreign is bad, where all problems are the fault of the outside world plans to become a hub? Perhaps they could become a hub of plastic surgery, for procedures that they excel in, like double eye and hymen reconstruction - but these lofty, laughable goals are ridiculous. Every day you read "Korea poised to be hub of (insert pipe dream) in 10 years. Sure. Still, I do enjoy the daily chuckle I get as that guy on CNN with the bad wig says "There are few Asian markets as open or transparent as Korea."

The days of Korea's economic miracles are over. While Koreans may brag that it was a collective effort, a result of the Korean spirit or drive, in actuality the gains of the last 50 years were accomplished by a handful of government and industry officials excerting brute force on the rest of the population. One could argue that they learned these lessons from the Japanese, who faced similar obstacles and used similar (but harsher) methods in their attempts to develop a 20th century infrastructure in Korea.

My point is that when it comes to hubs, average Koreans just aren't that into it. Korea exists in a bubble (one that it enjoys and takes comfort in) and no amount of feel good nationalism and advertising will convince the general populace that dissolving that bubble is a good thing.

The hub of Korean culture, business, and semi-conductor production.

Funny, a bunch of losers who suck at the teat of the esl industry as white-collar beanpickers should know so much.
Korea is one of the three main hubs of logistics in Asia. HK/Shanghai and Singapore being the other. Where do you think all those containers go? Where do you think the Japanese use for so much of their cold storage needs? KAL is the largest air cargo carrier in the world.
Incheon and Narita are definitely the two hubs of Aviation for North-East Asia. Go to the departure lounges and see all the people transiting through Korea.
Korea is well on its way to becoming the Technology hub of Asia. The number one brand in the world for consumer electronics is no longer Sony, it's been Samsung for years now. All of the cool products have been coming out of Korea lately, not Japan or HK or Singapore, and now so are many of the killer applications and support tech including the new standard for WiBro based on the Korean platform.
That'swhat'smeant by hub, dummies. Now go back to wiping noses at ding dong dang hagwon. That kid could be your kids' boss some day.
