I work at a kindergarten/preschool. The Korean teachers want me to insist that the kids keep eating their lunches, even if they say they are full. I give my kids rewards (hearts) for good behavior. I decided to include eating their lunch in the reward. If they eat the side dishes, they get a "heart".
OK so here's the story.
The other day they served a really crunchy green stem type thing for lunch. I don't know the name. It takes forever to chew, even for me.
One of my 6 year olds took all of it, and jammed it in his mouth. Then chewed and chewed and chewed. But he couldn't break it up. So he swollowed all of it whole. It got stuck half way down his throat, and he kind of wretched, gagged, choaked it back up on to his plate.
... then picked up his chopsticks and wanted to eat it again. I told him not to and he said "I want to get a heart for eating everything!"
So, since I'm an evil teacher, and that seemed really funny, I made him eat it again. mwahahaha.
Just kidding. I told him he could have a heart for effort, but please don't eat that again. |
