did anyone see this?

i saw it and had a nice long chat with one of the organizers.

they had this big display of posters related to christian vandalism of buddhist temples and old confucian icons. some of it is downright kristallnacht-esque.

as well, they had some thing that questioned the aryan blond/blue eyed jesus icon so common in korean churches and a/b'd it against the more likely semitic-looking jesus - he kinda looked like john rhys-davies. (BBC did a bit about this a couple years ago, "what did jesus really look like" - he certainly didn't look like sebastian bach).

but the best thing - their web address.

www.antichrist.or.kr
or was it www.antichrist.co.kr?

i tried to tell the guy that "antichrist" means something a bit different than "antichristianity", in that when you say "antichrist" it makes people think "satan". all buddy could really say was "well, the website's made. what can we do?"

since it's a korean website i doubt too many people are going to pick up on the difference between "antichrist" and "anti-christianity" but i thought i'd tell him anyway.

anyways, i'm stoked that someone is doing making statements about brainless prejudice in this country.

It's not an atheist website, just an anti-Christian one.

i got a different impression talking to the guy running the display. he also said a lot of stuff about buddhism being a bunch of hokey BS.

he called himself an atheist, but perhaps the whole organization is railing against the fascist BS that some christians can spout.

he seemed to have a real respect for buddhists though, in that they didn't proselytize, preach, or spraypaint penises on icons of religions that didn't agree with their interpretation of that thing that doesn't exist.

it was just interesting to see it.

Yeah, I'm sure it's full of atheists but I didn't see anything on the site about atheism at all. Couldn't even find a mention of atheism in the FAQ either. Most atheism groups are more about how to raise your kids without religion, how to keep on good terms with your religious neighbors and show how you can live without religion, promoting separation of church and state, etc. That's usually what I think of when I think of an atheist website.

yeah. it's possible i have the website wrong actually. i gave their pamphplet to our drummer who had a quick snicker and discarded it. if i'm wrong i'll repost it.

they just seemed a bit cooler than a bunch of nibnobs prancing around saying "i hate christians".
