I have to teach 48 middle school boys a sports class next week. For some reason playing soccer or basketball and other proper sports are out of the question.
When its with girls my female co-workers do dancing so I guess anything active goes. I thought about doing british style playground games but i will be in deep poo if they rip their clothes or break their bones!
I am at a bit of a loss about other fun things to do so if anyone has any suggestions that would be great! |

Frisbee golf.
Get a bunch of boxes and stick them all around your school. Get a bunch of frisbees and then give them score cards. same as golf. Kids love this. Trust me and do this. |

Middle school boys enjoy these games, at least in America they do. These are just some ideas, though I don't have experience with middle school boys outside of a sit down class room situation.
Kickball: They might like kickball which is a game with rules and setup identical to American baseball, but uses a common red soft rubber ball to kick instead of batting a baseball. We have a couple of these balls at a hagwon, but kindergarten students are too young to do much with this in the line of organized sports and don't have recess except on special days like Children's Day. I remember that boys began to enjoy playing kickball in 4th or 5th grade and play this game hard all the way through the 8th grade. This was in America. I am quite sure Korean middle school boys would like it too and could quickly learn to play due to American style baseball being a part of Korean culture today.
Dodge ball: Kids also like playing dodge ball in a gymnasium on rainy days where you use the same red rubber ball and separate everyone into 2 teams and use the center line of the court as the dividing line. One team player attempts to nail any opposing team member standing on the floor, but if one catches the ball, the ball thrower is out. If a player nails an opposing team member with the ball, the player to get hit is out to sit on the bench for the remainder of the game. The first team to out all of an opposing teams players; wins. Usually everyone, but the 2 most agile players get sat out on the bench. It gets very exciting towards the end when you got the 2 most athletic boys battling it out.
Baseball or softball is good too.
If not these sorts of sports, then organize track and field events with a final on the last day called, "Beat the Clock!". Assuming you have a place to run them.
And then after 30 to 60 minutes of physical exercise, they all go back to their classroom behaving well due to being tired and ready to sit down to do a relaxing activity like listen to their teachers lesson. (just kidding) |

so i ended up doing ........ touch rugby
and i should of listened to some of the other ideas. its difficult to try and explain just how badly it went. Everybody just chasing the ball around the field touching each-other.... running sideways and hurling the ball backwards over their heads without looking |
