It was time to go. Spent plenty of money, but down there near the bottom. I thought they showed a bit of promise last season.
Danny Blanchflower will be turning in his grave. |

About bloody time. Nearly 17 million quid for Darren Bent who keeps the bench nice and toasty. This was a team that was meant to push for a Champions League place this season. They'd better turn it around and sharpish, or mid-table will be the best they can hope for.
No, I'm not bitter. |

I'm gonna have to disagree with you here. I think Jol is an excellent manager and shouldn't have gone. I think dressing room politics came into play here.
Berbatov as become a pain the ass. He had one excellent season and he thinks he's god. Harry 'de Gaffer' Redknapp was right. He's just a sulk. But I think his sulking affected the team or he made it his business that it did.
Wouldn't be surprised if Jol took at over at Bolton. And I'm sure he'll do really well there. Smacks a bit of Gullit at Newcastle, maybe we should have confucianism in the Premier League.
Yes Boss! Of course Boss!
Aha, Indytrucks I see you're a spurs fan. Always a team with so much potential but never the end product. Shame. I thought Jol was the man. And agree that Bent was way way overpriced but most english players generally are. I remember the miss he had a couple of weeks ago when clean through on goal. Bad bad! It'll be interesting to see how much Micah Richards goes for when he gets his 'dream' move to Arsenal. Fingers crossed!! |

You are probably right but they need a shake up. They are so shit this year...Way below their potential.
Jol will be back, that I have no doubt. And without those annoying players as albatrossses around his neck! |

Oh my days, Alyallen, you're 'sharking' again, I can see you're absorbing all this football info and then it's gonna be directed to the fantasy football. I will not write anything more on the subject of football, that'd give you the advantage. |

DV, I have to disagree with your take on Berbers. I don't think he's anywhere near as much as a sulk as he's made out to be, and certianly there are/were worse in the Premier league (Anelka immediatley springs to mind). The man is first class with skill and a touch to be envied. The man was a goal machine in Germany, scored one of the finest goals I've ever seen in the CL with Leverkeusen several seasons back, and had a ripper in his first season last year. Has had a slow start this season, but I think it's because of Jol's Benitez-esque policy of constantly chopping and changing his side, especially his strikers. He bloody well paid NEARLY 17 MILLION QUID for Darren fukin Bent ... play the bloke. Berbatov should be starting nearly every game. Robbie Keane and Bent should alternate. Defoe should have been sold or loaned out after the end of last season.
Spurs' defending has been God awful. That's the problem.
And yes, it's tough being a Spurs fan. |

That's what I don't understand. At the beginning of the season I thought that Spurs were up there with the best defences, back up etc. (Portsmouth also) But the loss of King has had a big effect. Chimbonda, King, Gardner, Dawson, Kabul, Rocha. Robbo is rubbish and needs to be dropped, it's a shame they sold Keller. He'd have been a good replacement for a few games.
If Bent had been foreign then he'd have only been worth about 5 million. Then there'd be no reason to feel bad about dropping him. And Anelka has been proved to be a pain. Only seems to last 2 years somewhere before he gets moved on, regardless of his skill. Arsenal got his best and then sold him for a profit.
I always naturally assume that when a Gaffer talks he talking sense. Strange that it was Hazza that did it. Maybe there is some truth in Berba not being happy about being denied a move to United in the summer.
Apparently Ramos has just become Spurs new manager. That'll be interesting to see. Maybe Kanoute will be on his way back!!! |

Yes. Yes. Oh GOD YES!
Ramos quits Sevilla for 25M Spurs deal
tribalfootball.com - October 26, 2007
Juande Ramos has resigned as Sevilla coach, so paving the way to join Tottenham as new manager.
According to reports in Spain, Ramos has agreed a four-year deal and is expected to join Spurs on Monday.
Without mentioning Tottenham by name, the 53-year-old Ramos told his personal website: "For my family and career it is impossible not to leave for London."
The Evening Standard newspaper reported Ramos would be paid 25m over the length of his contract.
"This has been the hardest decision of my life," added Ramos. "My time at Sevilla has been the most important period of my life personally and professionally. I will be eternally grateful."
Sevilla's physical trainer Marcos Alvarez has also tendered his resignation.
Ramos' contract with Sevilla had been due to expire at the end of this season.
"The now ex-Sevilla coach declined the possibility of giving a press conference at the club's training facilities," said a Sevilla statement.
"He has chosen his website www.juanderamos.com as a means of saying goodbye to Sevilla." |

That's a bit harsh.
I'd say 20-25 years since Jennings,Crooks,Hoddle,Villa,Ardilles,Archibald etc. They had their moments in the early 90s too.
I think they'll finish in their typical mid-table position. They're out of Europe though, that's the one that mattered. |
