| I'll be coming to Korea in 1-2 months. One thing I'd really like to do when I get my first vacation is fly over to Hong Kong to visit my best friend, who is an exchange student there. I did a quick search on Expedia for flight from Seoul to HK and the prices seem rather ludicrous - starting at $850 US. Is this a realistic price or are there cheaper flights? |

Cathay Pacific's usual price to HK runs about 450k won return (tax included).
You can occasionally get even cheaper tickets. |

I paid about 700k for the return flight and 3 nights in a hotel. It was a package deal off the Cathays Pacific website. That was July of 2006.
It is expensive to get there but well worth it! |

| Once you're out of the US, Expedia's not a good choice. In Korea, you're best to check airline websites directly and find a good travel agent. Cathay Pacific has good fare sales; check out their site. EVA is also worth considering (good service, good fares), although the flight out of Seoul is an evening flight and you'd have to overnight in the Taipei airport's transit hotel (or sleep on the floor or something). You should be able to get a round trip for less than 500,000. |

"Starting at $850 US is ludicrous. I flew Seoul > Bangkok > Seoul for 677k won in January, & that was peak season!
Go to the travel thread, & look for the sticky on Korean travel agents (Why pay more, Top Travel, etc).
