I teach at Seoul Metro. He was indeed copping a squat due to being sick with the runs and fell out the door.

What a way to go.

you'll see the word 용변 a couple times in the article, which means he either finished his business or he was trying to relieve himself

The article kind of puts it in a bit better context. At first you're a bit like "savage". But then I think it's clear the subway drivers are given very little time to take a crap or pee. Given that most of the station bathrooms are up like 2 or 3 floors and if they're given very little time to attend to needs, well, what are you supposed to do? Helluva way to go.
