Figured I'd see if any of you guys were interested in joining me in an Audioscrobbler group. Basically what it is is a site that aggregates all the music you listen to and catalogues your musical tastes. It also compares your tastes vs. other people in the various groups and makes recommendations based on that.

All you need to do is install a small plugin for whatever media player you use, and just go about your life as normal. It tracks everything else for ya. Completely free, you don't even have to give out your email address. It's also open source, and there's not spyware, adware or anything else. In any case, I created a forum for all the various expat groups out there and called it "Degenerate Expats".

If you're up for it, sign up, install the plugin, and join the group. So far I'm getting a kick out of it.

ETA: I should probably provide the link Embarassed If you're wondering who I am, my username there is spaeschke.

Recommendations only really come once you've listened to somewhere around 300 tracks. It takes a little time for them to cross index your music with everyone elses. As for groups, they're in the menu bar on the left hand side of the screen, and the groups are divided into stuff like "locality", "interests", etc.

Just add spaeschke or jaebea to your friends list in the meantime and I'll see if there's some way to swing a group invite to you guys. If not, there may be some hunting involved to find the group.

ETA: Okay, doesn't look like there's any way to invite someone, so just look up my username, then look at my groups, and you should see "Degenerate Expats" listed there. Go ahead and join that group, it's completely open to join, you don't need an invite.

Don't know about this Audioscrobbler thing, but aren't you suppose to have the same avatar that Hank the Iconoclast is using now?
