If you lived in N. America, you probably would've seen this 200 times on ESPN by now. Since you live in Korea, here it is.

Don't see the big deal. It just looks like a bad game of rugby except they're wearing big pads so they don't get hurt.

THere's already a thread here: http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/viewtopic.php?t=103306

The people with funny accents have already had their chance to show their ignorance regarding American football. They haven't disappointed.

I didn't see much ignorance in that thread. A few good points were made. It looks like that team has played rugby by the way they position themselves relative to the ball carrier. It also looks like they are improvising, a skill rarely used in American football. One poster had it pretty much right, American football is rugby with all the fun taken out of it.

Two words for ya...FORWARD PASS.

There are very few things in modern sports as complicated and precise as a properly executed pass play. When done right, it's a beautiful thing to witness.

Yes, American's removed the oh so fun aspect of disallowing the forward pass. Also removed; the ability to run for one yard, fall down, curl into the fetal position, scoot the ball to the next guy and repeat this over and over without a four-down limit.

These punters know nothing about American football. All players know about the latteral pass. It's not usually done because it's too high a risk if you fumble.

Football teams practice for hours and hours on end. It's a very complicated game.

I'm not doubting that American football is a highly strategic game that demands skill and strength but your very words "complicated and precise" sum up what I dislike about the game: the lack of room for individual expression and creativity... basically what makes playing sports fun. Basketball, ice hockey, soccer are all games in which a good play involves individual split second decision making. In American football, a great move is when the players follow the coach's predetermined play to the letter. Thinking about it, I'm surprised the Germans don't like American football more. It's so efficient.

complicated and precise, with individual plays. For this reason, I sometimes think American football is like cricket
