So, trudging through the inevitable trolls, I was wondering what you guys would like to see in a blog/'zine/local rag about Korea and Seoul? I'm going to start a blog, with a prime focus on interviews and *researched* articles (i.e., no daily Chosun Ilbo news dump...Marmot and Metropolitician do great jobs with that [edit: that's not sarcastic, I love those blogs]). Hopefully, lots of 'slice of life stories that go more into the lives of people and not just the place or event.

But, what haven't you seen that you'd like to see?

Someone (like the Marmot and Metropolitician) who know enough about the country and speak the language. Honestly, do you think that you could hold a torch to these two supernovas of the Korea expat blogosphere? Take a look at their blogroll and you'll see there are a few who do, and scores who don't. Good luck to you if you can.

I'd like to see interviews with the old ladies who sell bags of garlic on the street. I'd like to hear the life story of one of the old men who push carts loaded with flattened cardboard boxes down the street. I'd love to hear an open and honest interview from a student who has paid good money for English lessons and got a genuine flakey foreigner for a teacher instead. I'd like an inside report on what really goes on inside some of these churches that border on being cults. I'd like to hear a really detailed account of the life of a North Korean refugee after he/she has made it to South Korea.

I want to let Marmot and Metro do their own thing. Those are two of my favorite blogs and I think they've got that area covered. My girlfriend, a wacky kyopo who speaks the mother tongue, will be there on a lot of interviews, but it isn't *necessarily* about Koreans.

As much as you think you're trolling, you're actually really close to the first interview. Smile

As much as I fear being burned alive for being serious for a moment:

-concert listings.
-(REAL!) updates on Korean law/immi
-comedy, 'specially cartoon.
-Where to find what. Someone found good tzatziki? WHERE?!
-reliable int'l news. I'm not asking for CNN, but some commentary from an expat in Korea's perspective.
-As mentioned above, nakedness.
-Art show/theatre/music listings.

Good idea if done right!

Edited to add the last suggestion.
