Is it possible to buy ferry tickets at the ferry terminal in Busan? Do you have to go through an agency in advance?

Kangsan travel will book them for you and you just give them a resrevation/confirmatio number at the terminal. Its pretty easy peasy and you don't have to worry about the tickets being sold out (since its summer vacation after all)

Sorry to bump this, but I plan on taking this ferry the last week in August. Is it really $190 round trip? The actual Beetle site said that it was around $222 for a one way! Any links would be much appreciated. Thanks for any information.

I was just looking at this site, http://www.pusanweb.com/guides/transportation/ferryguide.htm
and saw that there are Fukuoka>Busan and Busan>Fukuoka for 85,000 won each way. Am I reading this correctly?

i booked my tickets online at https://www.jrbeetle.co.jp/ships2e/sp2p/index.html
the booking was straighforward, and it seemed that my tickets cost 26 000 yen/ 215 000 won. i am assuming thats return, but must admit the booking confirmation form is a abit confusing as it refers to my seats as 'OW'. i called to check the reservation was return, and they said it was fine. i HOPE they are no problems.

If you look at the bottom of the site, you notice that hte copyright is 2002. So, yes, 5 years ago, it probably was 85,000 each way. now its 190,000 round trip or 95,000 each way. Not a big price jump for 5 years if you ask me. Call Kangsan. They'll straighten you out.

I heard there was this deal going down - return ticket and hotel. This still on? Where do you get it from?

I know that this has been mentioned before, but here's a bit more ifno on the subject:

You can got from seoul>busan>fukuoka (KTX) and back again for 210,000. You can do this at the tourist information desk at Seoul station. However, first you need to ring this number: 051-441-8200. I spoke to the woman at the desk and she said that before you buy the package you have to to reserve the ferry times with KOBEE ferries (not beetle).

Then you can go to the tourist desk and buy the 210,00 deal, but it must be AT LEAST 3 DAYS before the actual departure date.

Also, when coming back from Fukuoka, remember that as well as the airport tax (500 yen from the vending machines in the terminal) there is a 1000 yen cockamamy fee you must pay for fuel or some crap like that (I thought that fuel comes as standard when you pay for public transport but there you go).

It may be possible to go there and back in one day if you take the first ktx to busan and get an early ferry and then get the last ferry from fukuoak back to busan (14.15). I'm not sure though.
