|
|
My afterschool class finished a week before October's paycheck. My OT pay was not included in this month's pay, and when I asked when I could expect it, I was told that there is no way to tell. In fact someone said it could take months! My CT then said I may get it by the end of November.
Is this normal or am I being jacked around? If it's the latter, what can I do and who can I talk to about this? I'd hate to leave over something like this (but I will if it comes down to it). |

Go the Finance Office in your school. Ask how and when the payments for the "after school" classes will be credited to you. |

I get mine after 20 hours of extra class teaching. So that's every 10 weeks because I teach a two hour slot every week. |

It varies depending on what district you work at I'm sure. I would take a Korean and go to the administration office in your school and ask them directly. If they don't know, they should be able to call someone and ask for you.
When I worked for a ps, I usually got mine within a month or six weeks at the very most. |

in my middle school i have to wait till all the kids have paid for the class. It can take 3-4 months. I'm not overly fussed by it though. I could understand people that.
Agree with all the comments, take your co-teacher to admin office and find out. |

Good point! My Office of Education pays me to do the class, not the students so there's no delay in this respect. |

I get my after school pay first. Before I even teach one of those evil classes, I get my 800,000 won in hand. Keeps things simple enough... |

At my school (public MS, Gyeonggi Do) OT is paid in 20 hour blocks. Once you reach 20 hours, you are paid for them all in the next pay packet. |

Overtime pay? All my overtime goes to Vacation. I learned my lesson over the summer when the local education office mandated that native teachers teach every single day during the vacation over summer.
Come winter time, I'll have a nice 6 week vacation while my compatriots teach every single day. |

Some of my OT I get every month and the rest I get at the end of the semester. |

It wouldn't be uncommon for you to get it at the end of the term. Some schools have a fixed budget for such things each semester and sort it out at the end. Also some teachers, i.e. males, like to get it in cash at the end rather than having it attached to a regular pay-packet. That way they have some mad money that's not under their wives' control. |

I was told by the finance office that my school had to submit the paperwork to GPOE which is why I haven't received my pay yet. They're supposedly waiting for the paperwork to be processed, since the students didn't pay for the class. And they couldn't give me a definite date but they said I should get it by the end of November. Could that be the truth? Should I try to wait it out or make some calls of my own? Id for the end of November to get here and have to start the process all over again. |

They do have to submit paperwork, but my school's been using that excuse since JULY for money from JUNE and I'm getting pissed. |
