I was cleaning out my desk drawer and couldn't believe some of the things I found. The most interesting was a folder with some lessons from my very first month teaching public school. I couldn't believe how over-the-heads of the students it must have been. I had a lesson on MLK that looked more like I was teaching intro. to US history to 1st year uni students than EFL to Korean HS students. I also found a hilarious letter from the head of English to me about what I should teach. It looks like he was just as clueless as I was.

I also found some original copies of government tests that were supposed to be returned. They quickly went in the shredder.

Found anything interesting in your desk recently?

Based on my first week teaching at Uni, I don't think there is necessarily a big difference - on the whole - between the level of English at middle school and the level of English of some uni students. And I'll be teaching content. I love teaching in Korea.

So what'd you find in your desk? Ego? Love of teaching? This ain't an abstract question.

My turn. The Bhagavad Gita, 5 unused green-tea packets, and a half-finished pack of cherry-flavored Halls candy. As for the Ghita, finished!

Hey, at least I answered the question. Hey, how'd the soccer match turn out awhile back?

Weren't you talking about some Newcastle vs. Goatf*ckville or something. Oh, and I think you mean the Kama Sutra when you made the ginseng reference. The Gita is a kick-ass war poem.

But yeah, how'd the soccer match turn out when I claimed you were a gamer or some sh*t?

I only got about half of what you just wrote - you've been drinking, right? Soccer game still in progress, but I'll be at the next Daegu game against Pohang Steelers.

Nah, just bored. Putting off doing these damn report cards. 5 more minutes, I swear, then I'm outta here.

That busted my ass right open - too funny.

I found the handbook I apparently got last September. Looks like a useful handbook. I wonder how many times my wrangler asked himself "Why doesn't he just look it up in the handbook?"
