|
|
I have been teaching in a public school for 4 years on a F2 VISA.
This will likely be my last year working for EPIK, but I will remain in Korea.
My Question is how do I claim my pension. I heard that to receive my pension I have to prove that I will leave the country for good. EPIK will give me a one-way plane ticket to Canada. I will show that, but is the plane ticket enough?

You must show them your boarding pass receipt showing that you will be leaving the country with an exact date.. As for it being for good (leaving he country for good), that is not true. You can collect your pension and if at some time in the future you come again you will once again start a new pension account. This is what several of my friends went through who sought the help of my wife to make sure they received their pension. With 4 years in you must consider if you are coming back to teach, because 5 years vests you in the retirement plan with the government. Unless you are in your early 20s or 30s it might be worth looking at. Of course the money in hand is also a good thing.
I just received my NPS statement and it is looking pretty good after making contributions for the past 4 years as well. My plan is to vest and then do something else that I can add more money to it to receive an additional amount...If you want any help send me a PM and I'll have my wife look into it for you. Thanks |
