neither one of my shift keys will work properly. consequently, i can't make capitals, colons, or anything else requiring the shift key. well, i can make it happen but not without pressing down several times. after several times a stickkeys box opens up.

are my shift keys gone or is my comp set to something that i can get out of////?----see what i mean--i had to make 4 lines just to get one question mark, sometimes ten.

thanks

Pop your shift keys off, clean the surface underneath, pop them back on. Most likely will fix it.

Use the virtual keyboard until you can get a new keyboard.

i know i said comp, but it's actually a laptop. cleaned the shift key but nothing happened. why would it affect both shift keys if it was just a metter of being dirty or jammed or something?

Does the problem happen if you plug in a usb keyboard? If it does then then you can rule out a hardware malfunction (your laptop keyboard being defective).

If they both went at the exact same time something weird is happening.

Did you clean both of them? You could have one broken and one dirty, you know...

But yeah, hook up another keyboard if you can (But not before you've cleaned both keys!); that will help you figure out the problem.
