It seems like the English village craze has turned into a huge failure. Among all the English villages, have any of them actually gone bankrupt and closed? Or are they all still open? |

I understand they are government funded so they must be operating, but I have heard many horror stories of mismanagement similar to the worst hagwons.
I like the visual appearance of many English villages, but I just can't get into a fiasco that is well documented during the past 2 years. |

The Seoul English Village near Olympic Park is still open. I worked there, and I liked it much better than my previous hagwon (YES Youngdo). Usually we would get about 400 kids a week. Sometimes though, we would get 200 or even 150 students in a week! There were times when I would only work 8 hours FOR THE WHOLE WEEK. It is really hard to get kids to go there because many parents don't think it is useful for the kids. And if a kid has been there once, many parents think it is not useful for the kid to go again. So marketing and attracting students to go there is a huge challenge. |
