Has anyone here brought over a North American made Wii console and used it successfully on the Korean 220v power grid???

I'm intending on bringing one over soon, and even Nintendo can't answer this question. Anyone with experience, please advise.

I use a Japanese Wii, which is also 110. You'll need a step down converter in order to use it. You can get one of those for around 15,000-25,000 won.
As for simply using an adapter and plugging it in, there is a chance you might fry your system. Some electronics are capable of handling between 110-240 volts, but videogame systems tend not to be. Check your owner's manual under the power supply specifications, it should say 110v or 110-220 or something.
Either way, the step down converter is quite cheap and very useful. I've had one plugged in for over a year that I bought for around $12 and it works great.

What is the difference between a 'step down converter' and an adapter?

The adapter i found is this one...

A step down converter actually converts the 220v power to 110v whereas an adapter is simply an attachment to make the plug fit into the wall socket (leaving the voltage at 220). Judging by the picture though, I think that adapter should work as it is listed as accepting anywhere from 110-245v. The only benefit of using a step down converter then, would be the ability to plug in things other than the Wii that use 110v. If you have nothing else to plug in, then go for the cable adaptor.

Sorry for being late, but I can indeed confirm that buying a "universal" adapter like the one you pictured works fine for using a NA Wii in Korea. I am doing that with my American Wii and everything works fine.

I would recommend buying a stepup/step down transformer not an adapter.

the same way. buy a step-up converter (actually i think they call it transformer).

i bought one in yongsan for my xbox, it was 25,000 won. just say 트렌스 and make sure it converts the power. its kinda heavy.

oh, and make sure it has enough wattage! for example my xbox (not 360) uses about 100w, but the 360 may use more...so you'll need a transformer that can handle that.
