I have a friend who just lost his job (okay, got fired), but his boss is giving him a letter of release and a letter of reference. He still has 7 months left on his present one-year E2 visa. He's planning to work at another school for the remainder of his visa.
Does he need a new set of transcripts? Can he just transfer over to his new school (using his letter of release) and work the 7 months until his visa expires? He plans to return to Canada in 7 months anyway, so he'd prefer to do just do that. Anyone done this before? |

He's starting all over again, so he'll need all his documents. |

I'm not so sure about that. I think he can have everything changed over and work at the new school for the remainder of his contract. It'll be under a new employer, but under the same E2. Then he can extend when the current E2 expires. |

A visa only allows you to enter a country, not to stay. The person in question is not 'under' an E-2. His visa expired 90 days from the date it was issued. He is in Korea by virtue of his alien registration with Immigration. When he lost his job, the employer was legally responsible of informing Immigration of that fact; then, Immigration issues a 14-day Exit Order. He must, eventually, do a 'visa run' - even if he has a job to go to the next day. |

I thought that maybe you could change employers under your current "sojourn" and work for the new employer until the expiry date on your ARC card. Maybe not.
What happens when your place of work/employer changes owners/names? Do you have to leave the country and come back again on a new E2? |
