Cutting to the chase - I don't like my boss and I know none of my co-workers do. The work environment, however, is pretty pleasant, although the Korean teachers sometimes are made to breathe down the foreigners' necks.

So, I am the contact person for my school and I don't know exactly how I should go about hiring a new person.
I have the power not to forward any info onto my boss, but then I am being an ass on both sides (applicant and boss). What can I do?
I could try make sure they get a horrible teacher, but then my co-teachers will suffer (I will be leaving the school) as well as my boss. If I attempt to hire a sweet and innocent type I will feel guilty for all the hard times ahead for that person.

Would anyone honestly take a job if they were told by the person that they applied to that the principal is crazy and unreasonable?

What you can do is be evasive whenever teachers ask questions. Keep answers short and unfriendly. They will become scared and get the hint. Act like you're trying to cover something up.

After a while, your boss will have to find someone himself.

Or just tell him to do that from the start.

I was the teacher-to-talk-to when applicants asked to talk ot current staff... I gave the answers straight up no BS. I didn't sugar coat the answers and answered their questions.

Office Droid: You didn't say anything negative about the univerisity, did you?
Me: I answered their questions and didn't lie.

It's funny because the couple they wanted to hire (former teacher and principal from Ontario) turned the job down, and I the three of us happened to work together at my new uni (AND their daughter). They thanked me for helping them dodge a bullet.

I'm leaning towards the honesty bit. It's not my fault my boss is b*tch (she is a she - I should have mentioned that). She should taste the results of treating people like dirt.

If anyone does come looking for a job and sounds like an angel...I think I'll find them something better.

This looks like you were evasive with the office droid.

So you get paid extra for this...if not, I wouldn't bother.

Nope, not getting a cent.

My boss is so cheap she is trying to tell me she wants to hire someone already in Korea to 'interview' him or her. Of course there is no mention of paying that person for flights or anything.

If you've read my other post on whether to re-sign at my school or not you will see that she even said she would only pay for my flights for my first contract. Brainless dolt.

Please be honest, I'm relativelynew to Korea and there is enough to contend with without havinga beep of a boss to deal with too. If someone has the sense to research there new position theydeserve honesty from the foreign teachers here.

Doesn't matter. She knew the place was a hellhole just as much as the teachers. If she wanted people to lie about the place, she wouldn't have given my email address to applicants, she would have used the kissass alcoholic in the office for that.

She was let go the same time the entire teaching staff was cleared out.
