Hello All,
A friend of mine wants to come over with her pet dog. How's it done? Is there any forms / heath checks / etc that need to be completed beforehand? Anyone have any experience? useful tips? |

There are a billion threads on this if you use the search function.
Basically, your dog needs to have all his shots, espeically rabies, at least 30 days before it comes (but of course not so long in advance tha i twill expire before arrival). Then you have to call the airline and work it all out with them and buy an airline approved carrier. |

What the previous poster said. You'll need an international health certificate for the dog. Many vet offices can do it. It can be done no more than 10 days prior to arriving in the country.
Nearly all airlines have approved Serpa pet carriers. My dog is coming with me next week. His ticket to fly in cabin cost $130. Small price to pay to keep him with me. He got his new carrier today and is already sleeping in it, so hopefully he'll be fine on the plane. If not, I've also got drugs for him. |

| It depends on the airline you fly with. In your search engine type in "Asiana Airlines Pet regulations". Or if you go to pettravel.com all the airlines are listed and will have the acceptable dimensions for cabin travel. |

teachergirl is right, the requirements vary depending on the airline. But many accept the Sherpa medium bag, and nearly all will accept the Sherpa small bag. |

| I am also thinking about bringing my dog. He is only 27 lbs. A basenji. I am planning to have hime neutered before I leave. I am planning on March and going to Busan. Is it difficult to get your school housing with the dog? Any help is appreciated. Getting him into the country is easy, getting him housed, getting a dog walker (or pet sitter) is a bigger concern. |

I didn't have a problem, but I was sure to tell any place I applied to up front that I was bringing a pet. It may have turned off some companies, because they didn't get back to me, but my guess would be that it had more to do with me being half black than having a dog. I did however get multiple job offers, so my guess would be that many schools don't mind you having a pet. |
