I have converted an flv file to an avi.
Windows movie maker is just saying it has a codec problem, and can't open it!

Any idea's how to work round this?

Thanks,
Ken

In the options of movie maker, I have set it to download codecs automatically.

Still the error comes up.

I tried many free & trial downloads last night, the last and what looked to be the best was Super by ERightsoft.

All the avi files gave me the same resulting codec error.

The file C:\Grace Oct 28th 0005.avi.AVI cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.

Yeah it works, but I want to edit it.

I found the solution.
I googled for the 20th time and found a forum debate about the same thing.
The advice was to go to http://www.avicodecpack.com/index.php?id=d1and download.

It worked first time Very Happy

Thanks,
Ken

EDIT: not really my forte, spend about 3 nights on it Embarassed
