I am a skeptic.
I am the kind of person who either believes they don't exist or that there is some kind of rational explanation for it.
Yet, there have been many threads and discussions about the possibility that extraterrestrial existence is possible beyond our own.
What do you think?
There is a real place in the southwest inspired by the myths of Area-51 and alot of the technology that the US keeps developing originates from proving grounds in that area. And people keep flocking to Roswell to catch a glimpse of their supposed sighting back in the 1940's.
And even in the 21st Century, an era when almost everything can be explained and information is globalized and mass-proliferated by the internet, there are still stories of UFO sightings, something that honestly seems unrealistic in a much more rationalistic world.
Whats your take on this? |

I believe in extraterrestrial existence but just not on earth..
I used to really believe in area 51 and all... but these days it got be thinking.. it cant be.. I mean humans are designed to talk..
if aliens were really found at roswell hundreds of people would have known about it..many of those working at roswell in that time have retired, died or close to it.. why take that secret to the grave?
never told your wife, kids, family of the secret? just went to work and swore to never tell a soul??? I just cant swallow that anymore..
there are just not enough stories about it from people in roswell...
like people say The USA never went to the moon.. thats BS too..
of course they went.. to many people would have known they didnt actually go and would have talked about it.. and why would armstrong and glenn go around the world telling everyone they went..??? for money?
for pride?? they know and so does nasa that one day soon man will return to the moon and then it will be reveled that man was there or not..
so why take that chance of humiliation????
so Aliens emmmm yes, but 95% of the videos and sitings we see or hear about are BS..
but with a galazy the size of what it is.. life must be possible on other planets. and if life is possible then so is evolution.. |

I believe in alien life and I don't trust the US military, but doubtful about Area 51. We don't know what they were hiding so it could have been anything. In his latest newsletter James Randi wrote that the wreckage in Roswell was just "the debris of a highly-secret surveillance balloon equipped with sensitive listening devices surreptitiously sent up by the USA. It was designed to actually pick up the sound generated by possible Soviet atomic detonations."
Here's something I would be far more likely to interpret as evidence of advanced alien civilisation. Basically, there are two galaxies colliding, and one of them is shooting radiation at the other. Certainly not evidence, but a better science fiction story.

Project Mogul. People trying to make 50 year old memories fit a hypothesis. The end. |

Apparently some pilots and other staff of United Airlines reported they saw a UFO at Chicago O'hare airport...the only credible report that I have heard. |

Even pilots mistake Venus for a plane. The so called trained observer has been thoroughly debunked. Trained observers are no better at over coming hardwired perceptions in bias as anyone else. |

I drove through Roswell once on a business trip.
That area is so flat and so empty that at night you can see Roswell from
very far away. If you aren't from an area like that it really looks out
of this world.
Unfortunately, the UFO museum was closed and our schedule did not
allow us to stop at all. |

The U.S. Air Force has acknowledged the existence of Area-51 as well as Groom Lake. Whether those places have any extra terrestrial connection, well, that's highly debatable. You should Google Earth Area-51. |

That Larry King episode with Jimmy Carter et al. was interesting. I recommend checking it out online if you haven't seen it. I think there's a few of them, but that one episode in particular was great. |

I don't doubt that there could very possibly be intelligent life on other planets. However, we are SOOOOOOOO far away from other solar systems that could possibly sustain such life that the trip is not very feasible. Do you realize how far away the nearest star is? I like Star Trek, but the idea of travelling faster than the speed of light (which would be necessary for such a trek of aliens) seems improbable.
On the reports and sightings...people see what they want to see when they can't explain something. Without proof, it's just a form of secularized religion IMO. |

The sustainment of biological life as reason why an alien species could not/would not visit earth is a very weak argument. Yes, with our understanding of biology, the journey would be quite impossible. However, for an advanced alien species, your argument is very shortsighted. We have no understanding of alien biology, should it exist. In addition, we have no idea of possible alien technology and their ability to cross galaxies. |
